The most remarkable natural event occurs here during the dry season when large herds of wild elephants congregate by the reservoir banks every year to create "The Gathering" - an astounding natural event famed around the world. Records show numbers as high as 700 elephants socializing and bathing together between July and September. The park also offers excellent bird watching with painted storks, lesser adjutants, spot-billed pelicans, and endemic species.
