Overview

The Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, is the largest cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this remarkable attraction has been well preserved and offers modern-day travellers an opportunity to glimpse Sri Lanka's golden past dating back to the first century BC.

Explore five magnificent caves housing over 150 beautiful Buddha statues, ancient Sri Lankan kings, and other gods and goddesses. Gorgeous murals adorn the inner walls and ceilings, depicting stories of Buddha's life with over 1,500 paintings covering one cave's ceiling alone.
